Exterior & Body Integrity

Examine the vehicle's paint thickness and panel gaps. Uneven panel gaps indicate prior collision repairs. Look closely for hidden rust under the door sills, wheel arches, and chassis. Confirm that the windshield is original and free of cracks, and verify the tread depth and wear patterns of all tires to check for alignment issues.

Mechanical & Transmission Quality

For fuel vehicles, perform a cold start and listen for engine tapping or rattle. Check the exhaust smoke color: blue indicates oil leakage, white indicates coolant burning, and black indicates excessive fuel injection. Shift through all gears to ensure the transmission operates smoothly without slip, delay, or harsh vibration.

EV-Specific Diagnostic Checks

For EVs, obtain a certified State of Health (SOH) battery report. Ideally, the SOH should be above 85% for a used EV. Inspect the high-voltage cable insulation, charging port latching mechanism, and cooling fan operation. Test the regenerative braking system during a test drive to ensure battery recharging works correctly.
